Dolly Parton, a true giant in country music, is known for so many things: her amazing songs, her warm heart, and her very distinctive look. Yet, behind all the glitter and the chart-topping hits, there's a really big, close-knit family that played a huge part in shaping who she became. It turns out, Dolly Parton has a whole lot of brothers and sisters, eleven of them to be exact, making her one of twelve children born to Robert Lee and Avie Lee Parton.

This large family grew up in what you might call rather humble beginnings, living together in a small cabin with just one bedroom, no power, and no indoor plumbing, way up in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains.
